Kathleen Soliah Walks
After serving six years of a twelve year sentence the convicted domestic terrorist is free. Soliah was a member of SLA, a violent terrorist group. She was sentenced to six years for participating in an armed robbery that killed Myrna Opsahl, a bank employee who got in the way of their revolution. Soliah was also charged with attempting to kill two LAPD officers with bombs.
Soliah ran from the law for 23 years. Her first degree murder charge was plead down to second degree. Six years for murder, attempted murder and being a fugitive from justices. Domestic terrorists keep your chin up. If you get caught you can do that time and still get out young enough for more shenanigans.
Update: California officials re-arrested Soliah after realizing they miscalculated her good time. Heh….

Kathleen is a distant relative of mine. (My paternal grandmother’s maiden name was Soliah). Grandma was always glad that on the news they pronounced “Soliah” the wrong way. I can understand how idealism makes a person want to react to the ills of society — to right the wrongs of the world. However, crossing over the boundaries into violence is one of the hazards of passionate activism. I believe she started with great motives and beliefs and ended with committing twisted, tragic and horrific acts.
Very sad for everyone involved. Debra
Debra, I could not agree with you more. Being a relation and having such a perspective is refreshing to see.
